The Royal Naval Medical Branch Ratings and Sick Berth Staff Association was formed by several former Sick Berth ratings under the guidance of Jack Fitch, who had joined as a Probationary Sick Berth Attendant (PSBA) in 1933 joining the serving Port Division Sick Berth Staff Association and on his retirement in 1947 the Sick Berth Staff Retired Members Association, eventually becoming the secretary of said until it was wound up in 1981.
Following a period of preparatory work for the Centenary of the branch in 1984 and during a Centenary Dinner in RNH Plymouth in 1984, Jack decided to attempt to resuscitate The Association. With the blessing of the then Medical Director General (Naval) and some hard work, Jack and his colleagues finally got The Association off the ground with an inaugural meeting in RNH Haslar.

Membership enables you to be affiliated to one of The Association regional groups and be able to attend local social occasions and receive a copy of the membership magazine Doc RN three times per year. The Association also holds an annual gala dinner during a reunion weekend with an Annual General Meeting around April.
